What should I do if my water heater is leaking from the bottom?

Shut off the water and power, then call for service. A leak from the bottom often means a failing tank or drain valve and can worsen quickly.

Quick steps:

  • Turn the cold-water shutoff valve on top of the heater clockwise to close.
  • Cut power: switch the electric breaker OFF, or set the gas control to OFF.
  • If safe, place a pan/towels to contain water and clear nearby items. Do not delay calling for 24/7 help.
  • We service Dallas and nearby areas like Plano and Garland.
