What should I do if my garbage disposal is humming but not working?

A humming disposal usually means the motor has power but the impeller is jammed. Try a safe reset and de-jam before calling.

• Turn off the switch and cut power at the breaker.
• Press the red reset button on the bottom.
• Insert a 1/4-in Allen key into the bottom socket; turn both ways to free the flywheel.
• Remove visible debris with tongs; never reach in.
• Restore power and test. If it still hums or trips, the motor may be seized. Call for service 24/7.
